Why would a legitimate site show unsafe?
Compromised CMS plugins, expired parking pages reused by spammers, or shared hosting neighbors can poison reputation. Use WHOIS, hosting tickets, and malware cleanup—not repeated clicks—to recover.
Can I check internal or VPN-only URLs?
Only hosts reachable from the checker's network path are meaningful. Private RFC1918 addresses and intranet names may not resolve or may behave differently from your desk.
Is this a substitute for email attachment scanning?
No. It evaluates the URL string context your product sends; use dedicated mail security for payloads and macros.
